SUNY 2015 Summer Cruise Information

Texas A&M Maritime Acedemy will send a number of cadets on T/S Empire State in cooperation with SUNY Maritime Academy. A representative from Texas A&M Maritime Academy will also be sailing aboard the Empire State. The button below will take you to a page with the link to the itinerary for the 2015 cruise.

SUNY B Parents:
One parent noticed this on the SUNY page: "PER TSA REGULATIONS, CHECKED BAGGAGE SHOULD BE NO MORE THAN 40 POUNDS AND MEASURE 24”LX16”WX10”H"
To meet weight restrictions, it may be advisable for cadets to share the required books so they aren't each carrying a complete set in their sea bag. I've been told the SUNY A bunch used that system. I'm not sure where the size restriction came from, but I can tell you my cadet has never had a problem checking a sea bag.
Friendly Advice from Aggies Aboard SUNY Cruise A
One of the cadets on SUNY A passed along the following suggestions and information for cadets scheduled for the SUNY B cruise. The suggestions from this cadet are not requirements from Texas A&M Maritime Academy or SUNY. These are friendly suggestions from their fellow Ags:

*BRING A PORTABLE SPEAKER!!!! You will have messman (work in the galley) and it will be your only source of happiness during that time.
*Bring a thick extra blanket and clips/clamps to hang over your bunk for privacy and to block out light.
*Bring a foldable chair to sit on. The fantail fills up fast during the evenings and the bitts, chocks, and capstans aren't all that comfortable after a while.
*Bring A&M hats, shorts, and shirts to trade. There aren't as many of us as there are SUNY or Maine cadets and your A&M stuff is valuable.
*Be aware that demerits can only be worked off by doing Extra Duty (ED) and they hand them out in groupings of 5. (2 hours works off 5 Demerits)
*25 Demerits gives you restriction in port and you HAVE to work them off.
* You can only blow a .04 or below if you are randomly selected to have a swab test that night. If you are swabbed one night, chances are you'll be swabbed again the next night.
